Learn Spanish from someone who can actually explain it in English
I'm Martina, a certified teacher from Mar del Plata, Argentina. I've lived and worked in the US, so I know exactly where English speakers get stuck. I'll explain things in English until you don't need me to.

30 minutes. No card required.
This is probably you
- You finished a language app streak and still can't hold a conversation.
- You took Spanish years ago and most of it is gone.
- You've done “conversation practice” with a native speaker who corrected you but couldn't explain why you were wrong.
- You've got a trip coming up and you'd rather not point at menus.
- You're starting from zero and you're worried that's a problem.
Why work with me
I speak your language, properly
I'm a trained English teacher, and I worked alongside native speakers during my time in the US. When you're starting out you need someone who can explain a tense in fluent English, crack a joke, and read the moment you got lost.
I know where you're going to get stuck
I learned English the same way you're learning Spanish, so I've already made the mistakes from the other direction. Ser and estar, the subjunctive, why the word order feels backwards. I know which explanation actually makes them click.
Actual lessons, not just chatting
I teach for a living. That means a real progression, homework if you want it, and a plan that goes somewhere. Conversation practice is part of it, not the whole thing.
How lessons work
We start with a free trial
30 minutes, no payment, no commitment. I'll ask what you want out of this and figure out where you actually are, which is often not where you think you are.
I build you a plan
I'll tell you where you actually are, what we'd work on first, and roughly how long it takes to get where you want to be. If I'm not the right person for that, I'll point you to someone who is.
We get into a rhythm
Video call, one on one, 60 minutes. Once or twice a week works best. You'll get materials and, if you want them, things to practice between sessions.
Pricing
$20 per lesson. Same price whether you're a total beginner or polishing what you already have.
First lesson is free. Cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours ahead, no charge.
Questions people actually ask
Do I need to know any Spanish to start?
No. Plenty of my students start at absolute zero. That's the situation my English is most useful for, because I can explain everything and you don't have to guess your way through the first month.
How is this different from a language app?
An app can't hear that you said something wrong, and it can't tell you why. It also can't answer a question. Most people who come to me have already done six months of an app and can recognize words but can't produce a sentence under pressure.
I want to travel to Mexico, not Argentina. Is this still for me?
Yes. The grammar and vocabulary you'll spend your first year on are the same across the Spanish-speaking world. Tell me where you're going and I'll teach toward that, including the local vocabulary and the way people actually speak there.
What actually happens in the free trial?
Thirty minutes. I'll find out what you want Spanish for, get a read on your real level, and teach you something small so you can see how I work. At the end I'll tell you what I think you need. No pitch.
How often should I take lessons?
Once a week works and gets results. Twice a week roughly doubles the pace. More than that is usually more than most adults can absorb between sessions unless you're preparing for something specific.
What times are you available?
I'm in Argentina, one to two hours ahead of New York and four to five ahead of California. Evening lessons on the US East Coast are normal evening hours for me, so scheduling is usually easy.
Do you teach Spanish for work or for travel specifically?
Yes. Business Spanish, Spanish for a specific trip, and interview or exam preparation all work as focused tracks. Tell me the goal in the trial and I'll build the lessons around it.
What if I need to cancel?
Cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours ahead, no charge.
What are lessons like?
Video call, one on one, 60 minutes. You'll get materials, and practice between sessions if you want it. Conversation is part of every lesson, but it isn't the whole lesson.
Let's find out where you actually are
The free trial costs you 30 minutes and tells you more than another month of an app will.
